Don’t worry, EMI hasn’t forgotten the legion of die-hard Floyd fans. ![]() The “Discovery” set includes all 14 studio albums, spanning the band’s career from their indie-psych beginnings in the late ’60s to their Roger Waters-free “lapses of reason” from the late ’80s and early ’90s. EMI/Capitol Records gave the world a special gift this past Tuesday: a completely digitally remastered, slick-as-hell Pink Floyd box set. Grab a black light, maybe a lava lamp, and call in sick. This time, we sort through the best and worst of England’s biggest, greatest, and smartest psychedelic export. It’s exact science by way of a few beers. That's still my favorite but this is excellent quality.Welcome to Dissected, where we disassemble a band’s catalog, a director’s filmography, or some other critical pop-culture collection in the abstract. ![]() Neck pickup, germanium fuzz, then we get to '72 and its a faster funky dung with the bridge pickup and the silicon fuzz. This is a great example of David being inspired/tired of old sounds and how different he makes some of these things. Oh man, being that it's 1970, David still has his older gear, I don't know what it was about Amsterdam Rock, maybe he got his new Fuzz Face recently and they were pissed off, or in a hurry, but this is way more subdued when we get to Funky Dung, much more album true, shorter solo. God dammit I almost wish I didn't see this I'm wide awake now lol Dude, it's 3am and I can't sleep but you have no idea how excited I am to listen to this in the morning, I seem to be in the minority here but I think the song is best done without an orchestra and I thought Amsterdam rock circus was the only good full performance, this already has great sound quality, I can't fucking wait to hear it get to funky dung. ![]()
